A democratic structure is implemented in the Partnership ensuring that each of our 1,400 members is represented at board level.
The board of the Partnership consists of a chairman, vice chairman, five producer directors and two representatives from Arla Foods.
Jonathan Ovens is the chairman of AFMP and has held the position for eight years. His role as chairman includes working with the Partnership's producer directors to secure the best possible price for members' milk as well as collaborating with industry bodies to improve British dairy farming. Jonathan is supported by Wes Abbey who is vice-chairman of the Partnership and chairman of the Asda Dairylink group, who are a group of AFMP farmers who supply direct to Asda through a completely segregated supply chain.
AFMP is divided into five regions and each region is split into eight districts. Every district has a chairman and vice chairman who sit on the board of the regional committee.
The role of the board of the regional committee is to elect a chairman and vice chairman, every two years, to sit on the board of the Partnership and | |

This structure serves the Partnership well and ensures a close working dialogue with the board regardless of the size of the Partnership.
Every Partnership member also benefits from a dedicated agricultural manager, who acts as the link between the farmer and the company. Their role is to give day-to-day support to farmers on a range of issues such as milk collection and production issues. They also organise producer meetings, farm walks and site visits, ensuring suppliers are party to all the information that affects them.
